BAMSAR MINUTES
Minutes of the October, 2003, BAMSAR meeting, held at Bayport. Thanks to Rick Magale for his hospitality.
Present: Bayport, Bellport, Center Moriches, and Westhampton Beach.
Excused: Brookhaven, Mastic, Group Moriches.
Old Business: AED (Defibrillator) training class: This will be held at next month's meeting. Mastic FD needs to
know how many people will be attending from each unit. The number of persons attending must be given to the Secretary,
John Foley (Phone 878-9217(H) or 344-2350(W) by no later than the night of Tuesday, 14 October.
New Business:
Commander Healey has asked for some suggested dates for the Board to sit and meet with him. Several dates were
sent to him.
Tim mentioned that the DR2 salvage class he'd had planned for the spring, would be changed to a current diving
class instead, due to the amount of hydraulic currents found in our inlets and beneath our bridges.
Accounts have been transferred to FASNY Federal Credit Union.
Training:
13 November, at 1930 hrs: Defibrillator training at the Mastic Firehouse (at the November BAMSAR meeting). All
welcome. See "Old Business" section above for requirements.
Discussed the recent article on page 28 of the September, 2003 Fire Engineering Magazine on in-water extrication
techniques. (This is a follow-up article to another article in the February, 2003 Fire Engineering, entitled "Engine
Company Operations: Vehicle Accidents in Water.")
Next meeting: Mastic, Thursday, 13 November, 2003, at 1930. We'll need to set a 2004 meeting schedule at this
meeting, as there is no December meeting.
