Minutes of the November, 2003, BAMSAR meeting, held at
Mastic. Thanks to Chiefs Sunderman and Greene for
their hospitality.
Present: Bayport, Bellport, South Country, Mastic
Beach, Mastic, Center Moriches, Group Moriches,
Eastport, and Southampton Chiefs..
Excused: Westhampton Beach.
Old Business: None.
New Business:
Welcomed Commander John Healey, Group Moriches’ new
Commanding Officer to the organization. We look
forward to working with, and supporting him in his
mission.
Meeting calendar was set up. It remains the same,
location-wise as last year, except that we need
someone to host the March meeting. Anyone wishing to
host the March meeting, please indicate your
intentions at the January meeting. An advance copy of
the calendar will be included at the end of these
minutes, and a final, hard-copy will be available at
the January meeting.
The January meeting is the annual election of
officers.
Year-end report on the state of our treasury was read.
Bill Biondi reminded those of us that took the
original Dive Rescue class, that our qualifications
expire, and must be renewed this year. He also
recommended that we submit a letter to D.R.I. with a
list of those individuals who Dive Rescue could permit
to sign off on our requalification. This
recommendation will be passed on to Tim Dahlen.
Dues notices will be going out in December. Dues are
$100 for the year. Due to clerical error, no notices
were sent out for 2003.
Requests to update each unit’s information will be
going out with the dues notices. Please have this
information back by no later than the January meeting,
so we can compile a list of available resources, and
have it ready for distribution by the February
meeting. Thanks.
A letter of thanks will be sent to South Country for
tonight’s training. (See below.)
Training:
Thank you to Luis Salinas and Jennifer Hannigan, for
providing an overview of automated external
defibrillators, their workings, and the laws covering
their use. As a more formal training class is
approximately 3.5 hours long, Greg Miglino recommended
we set a future date (Weekend, possibly?) for a full
course. We should discuss this at the January meeting.
Sever people have asked about using the Brookhaven Lab
pool for training. In order to schedule the pool, you
need to give the Secretary a list of all persons
attending the training, so that these persons can be
put on a visitor’s access list. The list must be at
the Lab, no later than two (2) weeks prior to the
expected training date.
Next meeting: Mastic Beach, Thursday, 08 January,
2004, at 1930. There is no December meeting.
