Dive Rescue 1: The weekend of 26, 27, & 28 July looks to be the best weekend for the class. E-mail, or call the Secretary, by no later than 14 May, with a tentative list of the names of all members who will be participating. Books will close on this class on 13 June. Secretary phone number is 878-9217. So far, we have commitments from: Center Moriches: 6; Bayport: 1; Eastport: 2; Westhampton Beach: 3. Blue Point, Mastic, Mastic Beach, and Patchogue are interested in the course, but need to get OK.
Dive Rescue 2: Agreements signed for the class(es). Cost for both weekends totals $625/ man. This class will be published nationally.

New Business:
John to ask Group if we can do the junk dive off the fueling pier in conjunction with the Open House on 18 May. We owe them this dive from 1996-97.
Tom still having problems posting our stuff on the website. Contact was made with the website host to assist.
Bayport drowning incident was discussed. Tim had spoken to Todd Nelson and Dave Fischler. His findings were:
1) The Coast Guard got the call, launched, called away an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast (UMIB), and notified Suffolk PD, as a courtesy.
2) Police did not notify the FRES Radio Room, despite a memorandum of understanding between PD and FRES to do so.
3) Dave gave Newsday a copy of the above-mentioned M.O.U., which will be part of their follow-up story on Sunday, 12 May.
Eben Brontman, of Legislator Guldi's office, offered to assist in arranging a
meeting between ourselves, FRES, and PD, in order to work out the kinks in the notification process.
Blue Point Fire Department contemplating joining our organization.

Training:
Paul Mendoza, of Dive Link, plans to be on hand on the 18th of May, at Group's Open House, to demonstrate communications systems and search patterns.
Tim is working with Freeport FD to have them demonstrate their technique of inflating a 4 inch hose for use as a water rescue device.

Next meeting will be Thursday, 13 June, at 1930, at Bellport Fire Department.

Any additions, corrections, or comments, please contact the Secretary; e-mail: o_foghladha@yahoo.com , phone 878-9217.
