Minutes of the June BAMSAR meeting at Bellport. Thanks to Ted Hermus and Ciefs Dan and Doug Harrow for their hospitality.
Present: Bellport, Brookhaven, South Country, Mastic Beach, Mastic, Center Moriches, Eastport, and Westhampton
Beach.
Old business: none.
Training: Surface rescue class at South Country Ambulance on Sunday, 24 June, from 0800 to approximately 1500.

Dive Rescue International: Take back to your teams the following and discuss: Would we like to host a Dive Rescue
2 course over Columbus Day weekend, or hold another Dive Rescue 1 course in order to qualify more divers to DR
1? Bring this back by no later than August.
Westhampton Beach requests training from Mastic and Mastic Beach on the AGA masks and the communication system
associated with them.
New business: County meeting went well. From what was discussed there, Paul Massey has the following suggestion:
Have Suffolk PD divers come and train us to be forensic divers/ train us on how they want the scene preserved/
evidence recovered, etc. A letter will be sent to this effect.
A question was asked of the body as to how to apportion the rebate for two divers, due us from Dive Rescue International.
Mastic Beach felt that since the first class was filled up and the second class wasn't, the refunds should go to
the hosts of the first class. This brought on spirited debate as to whether the funds should go back to the organization,
or to Mastic Beach. Minutes and contracts were re-read, but no conclusion was reached there. Mastic Beach then
offered the funds to the organization. The offer was accepted, with reservations. They also offered the suggestion
that, in the future, any refunds will be shared equally with any member unit of this organization who performed
any of the work on any of our drills. This, too, was accepted with reservations.
