BAMSAR MINUTES
Minutes of the July, 2003, BAMSAR meeting, held at South Country Ambulance. Thanks to Chief Greg Miglino for his
hospitality.
Present: Bayport, Patchogue, South Country, Bellport, Mastic, Group Moriches, Westhampton Beach.
Excused: None.
Old Business: Dive Rescue 2 discussed. Light Salvage: 13-15 September, 2003. Everything moving along. So far,
20 are committed. Invitations will be sent out to other agencies, giving them until 15 July to respond. Classes
will then be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. We need to firm up the commitments with the quarry owner,
the operator of the tank retriever, and the supplier of the sanitized vehicle to be used. Tim asked that the people
involved in setting up this drill (representatives from Mastic, Mastic Beach, the Ambulances and Westhampton Beach)
get with him to set up a date in August for a pre-plan meeting.
We could use some manpower to help with incidental work details associated with hosting the DR 2 course. If anyone
is planning to attend in order to help out, please let Tim Dahlen know. Thanks.
Further positive discussion was held regarding the meeting of 23 June. There are still a couple of minor things
that need to be straightened out by people at a higher level than us, but, all felt that progress has been made.
New Business:
Marc told us that this was his last meeting, as he has been rotated to Boston. Todd is being relieved on 6 August,
to be rotated to the USCG Academy. We wish them both well in their next duty stations.
Some discussion was held in regard to supplying the Group with AEDs. We're working with the county EMS to come
up with a solution. If we were to donate the AEDs, we'd need to write a letter to the CG, indicating our intent.
If we were to get the county to loan them, something would need to be worked out there, as well.
A request has been sent to FASNY Credit Union, to permit us to join, by month's end. We received a letter from
Chase Bank stating that we must now keep a minimum of $7500 in the account at Chase, in order not to be charged
any fees. The FASNY Credit Union has free checking, a very low minimum balance, and other benefits, not available
from our current vendor.
Training:
Bellport has a dive drill on Sunday, 13 July. Contact Ron Moscalino, e-mail Dolittle51@aol.com for more details.
Next meeting: Patchogue, Thursday, 14 August, 2003, at 1930.
Any corrections, additions, or questions; please contact the Secretary.
Respectfully,
John Foley
