BAMSAR MINUTES
Minutes of the BAMSAR Annual Meeting, held 10 January, 2002, at Mastic Beach. Thanks to Chief Bill Biondi and
Tom Fleming for their hospitality.
Present: Bayport, North Patchogue, Bellport, Mastic Beach, Mastic, Center Moriches, CG Group Moriches, Eastport,
and Westhampton Beach.
Old Business: A short discussion was held regarding last month's meeting with East Moriches. Bill Biondi reported
that his District's attorney did some research, and came back with the opinion that, should we get called by the
Coast Guard, for any reason, we were to be covered by our own District's insurance. It was decided, to go with
this opinion, and conduct our business accordingly.
John will write letter to BNL regarding the use of the pool. The dates to be requested are: 27 January, 24 February,
and 03 May. The fee assessed by BNL, for the pool's use, will be made known to us when the dates are approved by
the Lab. The winter sessions will be for review of basic skills, and the May session is requested for dive rescue
training from Dive Rescue International. Reminder: John needs a list of members attending these drills at least
one week in advance, due to security reasons.
New Business: Voting on corporation officers. Thanks to Marc Sennick for being the Election Chairman again. Elected
were:

Training:
Dive Rescue International: Dive Rescue I. 3, 4, & 5 May. One class, of 20 people. So far, the tentative tally
is: Westhampton Beach 2-3, Eastport 1, Bellport 2, Bayport 2, Mastic 5, Center Moriches 2, and Mastic Beach 2.
Dive Rescue II. Hook up with Southold? Possibly two weekends- 12-16 September, and Columbus Day.
Ice Rescue: Tim is looking into getting hold of Randy, from Hampton Dive, as to the possibility of an ice dive
course in the quarry. Max. number of people: 20.
South Country Ambulance is putting on a Surface Ice Rescue course. This is a Dive Rescue International certified

Hyperbaric Emergencies: North Patchogue is hosting a hyperbaric emergency seminar at Mather Hospital, Port Jefferson,
in April. Contact Jerry Roeloffs at e-mail: Flounder462@netzero.net for further details.
Search Patterns: Group Moriches will hold a search pattern seminar for us. Tentative date is the 13th of March.
Time will be from 1930-2130. This will familiarize us with USCG search patterns and search planning techniques,
including how to calculate survival times for persons in the water. Please have the number of persons attending
back to the Secretary, e-mail: o_foghladha@yahoo.com , by no later than 07 February. The location of the seminar
will be announced no later than the February 14th BAMSAR meeting.
