BAMSAR MINUTES
Minutes of the December BAMSAR meeting, held at Center Moriches. Thanks to Chiefs Delong, Schilling, Murray, and
Nizza for their hospitality.
Present: Bellport, Center Moriches, Group Moriches, and Eastport.
Excused: Bayport, Blue Point, Patchogue, Mastic, and Westhampton Beach.
Old Business: Discussion was continued on the Dive Rescue 1 course. Center Moriches asked if the dates could be
moved back to June, as done last year, due to the fact that the group of divers now in training can't get into
the open water part of the basic course, due to weather. As the forms have to be back to DRI by 22 December, John
will attempt to contact DRI about this.
Rescue swimmer course at BNL has 15 possible trainees. This number will be given to the lifeguard instructor.
John still needs to talk with Bob Fink about "Hypothermic Victim" course.
Search pattern class: No report.
Dory Rescue Squad: Paul wasn't able to meet with them yet.
New Business: A suggestion to drop the December meeting from the calendar has been advanced, as it conflicts with
most of our member departments' Chief's elections. We'll need to discuss this at the January meeting.
We have a credit of $900 at DRI. We're going to leave it there for future use.

We still need a host for October, and, dependent upon security concerns, we may need to have some other unit substitute
for the Coast Guard, hosting the March meeting.
If any Department/Unit is willing to host the October meeting, please let the Secretary know as soon as possible.
