BAMSAR MINUTES

 

Minutes of the May, 2007, BAMSAR meeting, held at Hagerman. Thanks to Chief Miller and Paul Osheske for their hospitality.

 

Present: Patchogue, Hagerman, Bellport, Brookhaven, Center Moriches, and Tim Dahlen.

Excused: Ed Michels (EHTMP), Jim Bowra (SCSD),  Coast Guard and Mastic Beach..

           

 

Old Business:

 

Dive Rescue 1 course reminder: Dates are 17-20 May (Thursday & Friday nights, all day Saturday & Sunday).  The class will start at 1900, Thursday night, at Mastic Beach Firehouse. Anyone needing directions, please contact the Secretary. Departments participating include: Center Moriches: 2 persons; Bellport: 3 persons; Hagerman: 4-6 persons; Mastic Beach: 1 person; Suffolk Sheriff: 1 person.

 

Coast Guard boat operator class: In-water practical work will start in the next month, or so, when the weather and sea warm up a bit.

 

Dues: Eight departments have paid. Dues, for those who have not yet paid them, were due on the 31st of March.

 

The obstruction in Moriches Bay, near Buoy 29 has been cleared. It turned out not to be a tree at all, but rather, a whole piece of marsh, complete with plant life, uprooted in the last storm.

 

New Business:

 

John to find out about certificates for Coast Guard Boat Operator class.

 

Anyone wishing to train with the CG Auxiliary Unit in Moriches Bay, please contact the Secretary, and he will provide you with the phone number for the Moriches Flotilla Commander.

 

Training:

 

Hagerman…. Dutch Springs in the fall. Info to follow.
