BAMSAR MINUTES

Minutes of the June, 2007, BAMSAR meeting, held at Bellport. Thanks to Ron Mascolino and Chet Kane for their hospitality.

Present: Bellport, Brookhaven, Mastic, and Center Moriches.

Excused: Hagerman, Ed Michels (EHTMP), Jim Bowra (SCSD),  Coast Guard and Mastic Beach..

Old Business:

Dive Rescue 1 course: Closed out, and bills paid.

Coast Guard boat operator class: John asked for names of all participants from part two of the class to be sent to him, for forwarding to BM1 Goldberg, Station Montauk, to see if we could get certificates to document our training.

New Business:

Financial report submitted. We’re in good shape.

Bellport is in the planning stages for a drill, at Bellport Village Dock, on 29 July. Ron Mascolino needs to know, by no later than 1 July, how many departments will be participating, so that he can make arrangements with the Bellport Dockmaster. He also needs to know whether you will be coming by boat, or by your department’s water rescue vehicle. For those who are renewing their Dive Rescue 1 certificate, or, who have just renewed, this drill will count toward that. If anyone has a boat that can be used as a safety vessel, please contact Ron, as well. Ron’s e-mail is: dolittle51@optonline.net, for replies.

Training:

Hagerman…. Dutch Springs in the fall. Info to follow.

Brookhaven is looking into the possibility of asking for permission to dive at the Shoreham Nuclear Power Station basin. More to follow.

If anyone has, or knows of, any training going on that may be of interest to the membership, please feel free to send notice of the training to either the BAMSAR webmaster at webmaster@bamsar.org, or to the Secretary, at o_foghladha@yahoo.com

Next meeting: Thursday, 09 August, 2007, at 1930, tentatively scheduled at Center Moriches FD. Anyone needing directions, or organizations that cannot hold their scheduled meeting, please contact the Secretary.

Any corrections, additions, or questions; please contact the Secretary.

Respectfully,

John Foley
