BAMSAR MINUTES

Minutes of the August, 2007, BAMSAR meeting, held at Center Moriches. Thanks to the Center Moriches dive team for their hospitality.

            Present: Hagerman, Bellport, Mastic Beach, Center Moriches and Tim Dahlen.

            Excused: Mastic.

            Old Business:

Bellport is looking into rescheduling the dive drill (originally scheduled for the last Sunday of July). They will let us know, next meeting, as to when and where this will be.

John was asked to check on status of certificates for Coast Guard search patterns class. He will contact CG and County, to find out.

New Business:

Dive Rescue 2 class…. A suggestion was made to have another current diving class. Tim and Paul O. will speak to Jim Bowra, in reference to this. What we need from the membership, is a number of people interested in taking such a class.

Mastic Beach has placed in service, a new communications system. This interfaces with the system that Brookhaven has.

Treasurer’s report was presented. Bills were paid for the website, for two years.

In light of recent events in Minneapolis, a suggestion was made to start preplanning possible bridge accident scenarios, and how we’d respond to them. (This wouldn’t just include collapses, but possible MVAs, resulting in a vehicle going over the side, etc.)

Next meeting is on Thursday, 13 September. Paul O. is looking to ask for permission from his Chief to hold the meeting at Hagerman.
