BAMSAR MINUTES

Minutes of the May, 2006, BAMSAR meeting, held at Hampton Dive Center. Thanks to Randy Randazzo and Company from Hampton Dive Center (HDC) for their hospitality.

Present: Mastic, Mastic Beach, Bayport, Brookhaven, Bellport

Excused: Center Moriches, Patchogue

Old Business:

Minutes of the previous meeting were approved with changes.

New Business:

Randy advised all present that there is a new boat in Shinnecock called the Boomer II. This is a 42 foot six pack with large a ladder and dive platform  which will support six divers. HDC will invite divers for trips. The boat will run Friday Saturday and Sunday Double trips.  HDC is the booking agent for the boat and will begin running in June. Dive schedule is on HDC web site.

A new club the Aqua Adventure Club has been started by HDC. See the web site for details.

Shark dive available at Atlantis in Riverhead. See HDC web site for details. Fire Departments will be invited by HDC for fire department day. You can go on your own if desired.

The HDC pool and the quarry are also available for use.

Bayport advised that Shelter Island FD will be hosting the land portion of a rapid deployment Search And Rescue (SAR) class July 15, 2006, Cost will be $70. The class will include line tending, witness reports and all aspects of the land portion of SAR. Contact Barry Lipsky at barry@lipskyenterprises.com. or call Barry 631-472-4454.

Bayport is hosting a Life Guard Systems rapid deployment SAR class in September, Wednesday night, Thursday night and all day Friday Saturday and Sunday. Dates to be finalized. Contact Barry Lipsky for information.

Mastic is planning a dive/BBQ Saturday 20^th May at Great Gunn, details to follow.

Training:

HDC Basic Open Water Classes will begin first weekend in June and will be two weekends. Week-night classes will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Instructor course end of July. For advanced and rescue classes see the HDC web site.
