November BAMSAR MINUTES
Minutes of the November, 2005, BAMSAR meeting, held at Mastic. Thanks to Chief Pat Greene for his hospitality.
Present: Patchogue, Brookhaven, Mastic, Mastic Beach, Center Moriches and Tim Dahlen.
Excused: Bellport and Bayport.
Old Business:
Dive Rescue 2 critiqued. Class fell short of expectations, both in the number of attendees, and in course content. A recommendation was made that we explore other training companies, and attempt to get a customized course that will be tailored to our needs and geographical area. (It was felt that the Dive Rescue 1 course was an outstanding course and we should keep that one.) Interested companies are invited to make presentations at our meetings.
Further on the subject of Dive Rescue 1; the following: The course will be held on the weekend of the 19th, 20th, & 21st of May, 2006. We need a firm commitment on the number of attendees, by no later than the March meeting.
The subject of calls not being passed to the appropriate agency, in a timely manner, was again discussed, with a recommendation that a renewed effort be put into being included in the 911 system.
Search pattern class has been asked for. No report yet.
A letter went to Pete Gannon (DRI), asking if the dive rescue courses could be re-configured to a Thursday/Friday evening, Saturday/Sunday day- type format. This may enable more participation in the classes. No report yet.
New Business:
We’d like to propose to FRES, a tabletop drill, that would test our resources/response capabilities. A possible scenario would be a party boat, with 50 persons aboard, capsizing in the Inlet. Another could be a Fire Island-bound ferry. We could also find out what kind of disaster plan the county has for this.
Dave Andujar is now the Mastic Water Rescue Team Captain.
A suggestion was made to invite the Newsday reporter who is working on the story about the Volunteer FDs, to one of our meetings and give her a presentation on BAMSAR, as to who we are, what we do, etc.

If any agency is not able to host their assigned meeting, please contact the Secretary.
Elections for President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer will be held at the January meeting in Mastic Beach.
Training:

Bayport will again be hosting the Ice Rescue Class (Part 1), on 28 and 29 January, 2006. Be sure to mark this on your calendar……
Dive Rescue 1 will be held 19, 20 & 21 May, 2006. We need a host.
