BAMSAR MINUTES

Minutes of the June, 2004, BAMSAR meeting, held at Bellport. Thanks to Chief Harrow, Chet Kane and Ron Moscalino for their hospitality.

Present: Patchogue, Bellport, Center Moriches, and Westhampton Beach.

Excused: Brookhaven, Mastic and Group Moriches.





Old Business:

DR 1 course: Went well. Twelve people attended. Congratulations to Scott Parris and Don Prince for their quick “finds”. Jim Bowra will be attending DRI instructor’s school in Colorado. We wish him the greatest of luck.

DR 2 advanced level courses: Swift water module. The course is 3 days. Columbus Day weekend (9, 10 & 11 October) is the anticipated date. Please have, by July’s meeting, an answer as to whether or not your department will be attending, and how many personnel will take the course. Prerequisite is DR 1. Course will be advertised nationally, and will be first-come, first-served registration.



New Business:

Paid website bill of $215.40

Center Moriches dive truck is O.O.C., due to mechanical problems. Dive team will still continue to respond, but, response may be a bit delayed. Please take this into account when calling.

Secretary to write a letter, thanking Randy Randazzo (Hampton Dive Center), for the use of his pool for the DR 1 course. Tim suggested we get a politician to write up a proclamation to present to Randy for all the work he’s done.





Training:

Hampton Dive Center has an open water class, starting this Saturday, 12 June. There are open water certification dives, navigation and “peak performance buoyancy” dives conducted on Saturdays and Sundays. Call 727-7578 for more info.
